What Are Chemical Skin Peels?

Chemical skin peels, also known as chemical peels or skin resurfacing, are a sophisticated non-surgical medical cosmetic procedure that has become the cornerstone of modern skincare. It's a safe and widely-used technique that rejuvenates and restores your skin's vitality. Chemical skin peels utilize medical-grade alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), often derived from fruits, sugarcane, or yogurt, to gently eliminate layers of accumulated dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new surface skin cells. With various concentrations and AHA types, these peels can address a multitude of skin issues, including acne, wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation problems, acne scars, and overall skin texture. The treatment expertly regulates your skin's natural keratinocyte turnover, leading to smoother, more youthful skin.

To achieve the desired skin resurfacing effect, chemical skin peels applied in our clinic use high-concentration AHAs, which are briefly applied to the skin and carefully removed based on your skin's unique response.

Regulating the turnover of epidermal dead skin cells:

AHAs, with their low pH, encourage the shedding of aged keratinocytes in the epidermis. This helps improve abnormal follicular keratinization, a fundamental issue in the initial stages of acne formation. Additionally, the removal of excess dead skin cells enhances skin luminosity, making it appear more even and radiant.

Fading pigmentation and melanin deposits

By gradually removing excess layers of keratinized epidermal cells, chemical skin peels expedite the shedding of melanin deposits in the epidermis. This lightens pigmentation, acne scars, and any pigmented concerns. Simultaneously, they elevate the skin's metabolic rate, speeding up the disposal of melanin.
